Heritage Open Day 2018
2nd August 2018
Have you always wanted an opportunity to look around a Grade II listed Victorian flour mill? Now might be your chance......
Our Grade II Listed Victorian Flour Mill that has been converted into managed office space and conference rooms is open for tours on Thursday 6th September as part of the annual Heritage Open Day Event. See the paternoster in the stairwell and many features such as cast iron pillars and large original beams.
Hear Business Centre Manager Catherine Beatty talk about the history of the building, what we know about the owners, workers and associates of The Mill and how it became what it is today. Having worked at The Mill for around 20 years Catherine has gathered information over time from documents and that have been found, and spoken to people that have worked at The Mill in it's previous life.
Aizlewood's Mill was rescued in the 1980s from a demolition order and restored by Sheffield Co-operative Development Group into a fine example of serviced offices and meeting rooms within a grade 2 listed building. Many features of the old flour mill were retained and are located throughout the building as decorations and oddities. Visitors will enjoy a tour of the building and see many of these items along with photos of the renovation work. The paternoster is part of the tour, but beware if you're not keen on heights!
Today The Mill is a thriving Business Centre, home to around 40 businesses enjoying the character and interesting features that this building has to offer whilst making use of the modern facilities and shared office environment.
Tours are suitable for a maximum of 6 persons and need to be booked in advance through Reception. Please call 0114 2823123 or email reception@aizlewoodsmill.com
