150th Anniversary - Tell us your story

This year at Aizlewood’s Mill we are celebrating the building’s 150th anniversary. To commemorate this special occasion, a book has been commissioned to tell the story of the Mill and the people who worked in it.

Over the years, many people have passed through the doors of Aizlewood’s Mill with stories to tell, from delivery men who once worked here and were able to shed light on the exact use of the paternoster belt hanging in the stairwell, to children of mill workers with memories to pass on of their father’s heroic part in saving the building from a fire.

These stories contribute invaluable texture and life to the history of the mill, and offer an insight into the lives of local people over the last century and a half. We are hoping to collect many more stories for use in the book, and to uncover plenty of fascinating details about this historic building.

We are therefore appealing to anyone who might have a story, memory or photo to share. It may be a first-hand account, or snippets of information passed down through the generations which could add human interest to the information we already have.
